On the cover this month are two two good friends Eric (aka DJ Velvin)
& Shandi (aka DJ Shanthrax). They were recently in Kansas City from
New York to play an event for another friend (pictured right). The
event, A Denim Revolution was half birthday party and half fashion
show. It was really the first chance I had to get out this month and
I was very glad that I did. After a long month at work on redesigning
the web site, it was good to get out and shoot some photos and see
some old friends. Unfortunatley, having brought the wrong battery
pack, I only made it until midnight.... whoops. :P
I got out a couple of other times this month, kicking things off
again with Aaron at Cicada Rhythm's 10th Anniversary party in Lawrence.
Roy Davis Jr was the featured DJ for the night and he rocked a full
dance floor the whole night.
I have to give credit where due though, while I have been busy working
on the site, the other guys have been doing a great job of getting
footage from some awesome shows around the area. Nathan even hit a
party in Austin when he was back from Iraq. Hopefully, he and the
others will get to come home from that miserable place soon.
In St Louis recently, Brian partied at Naughti Gras at Ten14. Just
the week before he had dropped in on Max Graham at Dante's and then
headed out for Winter Warpdrive 2 all in the same night. From the
photos, it looked like a really great time. I saw that a lot of Kansas
City kids made it out for that one! Sometimes that's what you gotta
do, eh? Hit the road.
And that is what I think I am going to do later this month. Because
of other commitments, I am going to have to skip Miami this year,
but we will still have a couple of other photographers going down
there. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how the party goes
off. Two days this year for Ultra! Wow! Meanwhile in St Louis, Satoshi
Tomiie will be playing at Dante's. Eiither it's been a while since
he's been through here, or I have been missing out. Either way, I
am not going to miss out this time. Maybe I see you there?
